Приведём пример разных видов упражнений, сравнивая два времени: The Present Perfect Tense и The Past Indefinite Tense.

The Past Indefinite Tense:

1) Трансформационное упражнение.

В приведённом примере учащиеся должны переписать текст, ставя глаголы во время Past Indefinite. Трудность заключается в том, что нужно не только вспомнить

какие глаголы являются правильными и неправильными, но и суметь поставить неправильные глаголы в нужную форму.

Задание: Перепишите следующий текст, используя The Past Indefinite Tense.

On Monday we have five lessons. The first lesson is Russian. At this lesson we write a dictation and do some exercises. Nick goes to the blackboard. He answers well and gets a “five”. Pete does not get a “five" because he does not know his lesson. After the second lesson I go to the canteen. I eat a sandwich and drink a cup of tea. I do not drink milk. After school I do not go home at once. I go to the library and take a book. Then I go home.

2) Вопросно-ответные упражнения.

В данном примере учащиеся должны ответить на вопросы, учитывая правило ответа на вопросы во времени Past Indefinite.

Задание: Ответьте на вопросы, используя The Past Indefinite Tense.

1. What books did you like to read in your childhood?

2. What subjects did you learn at school?

3. Where did you spend your summer vacation?

4. What present did you get on your last birthday?

5. How many people did you invite to your birthday party?

6. What did you see on TV yesterday?

А в следующем упражнении учащиеся должны понять как правильно задать вопрос во времени Past Indefinite.

Задание: Напишите вопрос к каждому ответу, используя The Past Indefinite Tense.

1. I went to the Black Sea coast in summer.

2. I spent there a fortnight.

3. I got up early, went to the sea, bathed and lay in the sun.

4. The weather was sunny and hot.

5. My friend and I rented a nice room in a private house.

6. No, it was not far from the sea.

7. We cooked our meals at home.

8. Vegetables and fruits were not very expensive.

9. I greatly enjoyed my holiday.

3) Подстановочное упражнение.

Учащиеся вспоминают неправильные глаголы и тренируются в их подстановке.

Задание: Вставьте по смыслу глаголы в форме The Past Indefinite Tense.

The verbs: find, hurt, fall, cost, keep, give, leave, write, meet, teach, sell, put.

1. We needed some money, so we … our car.

2. They … last Saturday as usual.

3. I … a pet-dog when I was a boy.

4. Who … the window open last night?

5. Mary … down the stairs that morning and … her leg.

6. She … a dress which … a lot of money.

7. I … this box on the beach yesterday.

8. My brother … me this beautiful bag.

9. I … him on the way to the University.

10. A. Christie … many novels and stories.

11. Mother … me to read and write.

12. I … all your books on the shelf over there.

The Present Perfect Tense.

1) Трансформационное упражнение.

В приведенном примере учащиеся должны трансформировать (то есть изменить) глагол из одного времени в другое.

Задание: В следующих предложениях измените время глагола на The Present Perfect Tense.

1. I am eating my breakfast.

2. He is bringing them some meat and vegetables.

3. The children are putting on their coats.

4. The pupils are writing a dictation.

5. My friend is helping me to solve a difficult problem.

6. She is telling them an interesting story.

7. Kate is opening a box of chocolates.

8. We are drinking water.

9. Jane is sweeping the floor.

10. I am making a new dress for my birthday party.

2) Подстановочное упражнение.

В данном примере сложность заключается в том, чтобы определить корректную позицию данных наречий в предложении.

Задание: Вставьте already, ever, yet, just.

1. Have you … been to South Africa?

2. Have you … finished writing your essay or did you finish it earlier? - I haven’t finished it ….

3. Shall I pay the waiter? - No, I have … paid the bill.

4. Ann, lay the table. I have … cooked dinner.

5. They don’t know what the problem is. They have … arrived.

6. Is it a good film? - Yes, it’s the best I have … seen.

7. The post hasn’t come ….

8. She has … explained the situation to me.

9. He hasn’t invited me to the party ….

10. Have you … spoken to a famous person?

Теперь, приведём пример упражнений на противопоставление двух видо-временных форм.

The Past Indefinite Tense иThe Present Perfect Tense.

Задание: Раскройте скобки, употребляя глаголы в Past Indefinite или в Present Perfect.

Nina: Guess what? I have wonderful news. Vladimir and I are engaged.

Erika: What! You…engaged? It’s all so sudden.

N: I not (tell) anyone yet. This is the first time I (speak) about it.

E: But are you sure you know what you (do)? I never (meet) Vladimir. Who is he?

N: He is the most wonderful person I ever (know).

E: Where you (meet) him?

N: I (meet) him in History class last semester.

E: Oh, he is a student. He (finish) college yet?

N: He not (graduate), but he already (finish) most of his courses.

E: How will you support yourselves?

N: We already (discuss) that. I am going to work until he (finish) school.

E: Nina, you never (be) on your own. Has he? He ever (work) before? He ever (live) alone?

N: No, but that’s not important. What matters is that we are in love.

E: How you (know) you are really in love? You not (have) much experience with men.

N: Yes, Vladimir is the first one I ever (fall) in love with. But I feel as if I always (know) him.

E: I know, I know. Love (make) the world go round. But so far you not (convince) me that you know what you are doing. Why you not (wait) for a while?

Задание: Переведите предложения на английский язык, используя The Past Indefinite Tense или The Present Perfect Tense.

1. В этом семестре мы прочитали пять рассказов А. Кристи. - А что вы читали в прошлом семестре? - "Чудеса страны Оз".

2. Могу я видеть Джона? - Боюсь, что нет. Он уехал в Москву. - Когда он уехал? - Два дня назад.

3. Вы уже сделали это упражнение? - Нет, я перевела только 10 предложений.

4. Вы уже сдали все экзамены? - Нет, мы сдали только два. - Сколько экзаменов вы сдавали в прошлом году? - Пять.

5. Почему Аня такая грустная? - Она поссорилась с Ником. - Боже, сколько раз они ссорились в этом месяце? - Думаю, много раз.

6. Как вы провели майские каникулы? - Очень хорошо.1 мая у нас была вечеринка, мы танцевали, слушали новые записи, а вечером пошли гулять.2 мая ездили за город.

7. Где вы были вчера вечером? Я звонил вам несколько раз, но никто не ответил. - Я был в гостях у Тани.

8. Что случилось? - Джон упал и сломал ногу. - Где он сейчас? - "Скорая помощь" отвезла его в больницу.
